Three people were arrested, according to a senior police official, in connection with the incident, which occurred just two days after Ahmad's son was shot to death at a Jhansi police meeting.

Intermediaries followed the two as they were escorted by police to the hospital for a medical, and the shooting, which took place around 10 p.m., was captured on video. Ahmad and his brother were thrown to the ground and shot by at least two people posing as members of the media. The attackers were quickly defeated by the police.
