Marlia Mendonça, a well-known pop singer from Brazil who was known as "the queen of suffering" for her soulful, angst-filled ballads, died on Friday in a small plane crash in Brazil's Minas Gerais state, which is in the southeast. She was 26.
The singer's press office stated that Ms. Mendonça's producer, Henrique Ribeiro; confirmed her death. her uncle, Abicieli Silveira Dias Filho, who was also her assistant; what's more, the pilot and co-pilot of the plane were additionally killed.
Ms. Mendonça was scheduled to appear in a concert in Caratinga on Friday night, so the plane was flying from Goiania to that location. The circumstances that led to the crash were not immediately known. The authorities claimed to be conducting an investigation.
In the popular Brazilian genre of sertanejo country music, Ms. Mendonça became a household name.
